The Shoppes At Carlsbad Continues its Strong Leasing Momentum by Executing Agreements with Three Southern California-Based Restaurants
Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop, Nekter and Poke Hut To Open In The Streetscape in 2018
Carlsbad, Calif. — August, 28 2017 The Shoppes at Carlsbad is pleased to announce that it has executed lease agreements with three well-established, Southern California-based restaurant favorites. San Diego’s own Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop will occupy 1,700 square feet and will open on the second level of the lifestyle center’s new restaurant streetscape in early 2018, as will juice bar chain, Nekter, and Hawaiian-style poke concept, Poke Hut.
“The addition of dynamic, locally recognized new dining options is a key component of the repositioning of The Shoppes at Carlsbad,” said Trey Peckenpaugh, Senior Vice President of Rouse Properties’ restaurant leasing division, Taste Space. Rouse Properties owns The Shoppes at Carlsbad. Mr. Peckenpaugh continued, “We have created a true urban and unique restaurant environment at The Shoppes at Carlsbad in a relatively short period of time that has been widely supported by this community.”
Established in January 2008 in San Diego’s historic Mission Hills neighborhood, Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop pairs a design inspired by the vibrant, high-spirits of its namesake Mexican wrestling tradition with gourmet Mexican food. The family-owned restaurant offers imaginative, flavorful takes on traditional tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more— plus housemade salsas – and is home to the original Surfin’ California Burrito. Lucha Libre also operates locations in North Park and Petco Park.
“You asked for it! So here we are, Lucha Libre North County. We’re very appreciative of the support from our current fans and are hoping to make new ones in Carlsbad,” said Jose Luis, Maurilio and Diego Rojano. “So let’s get ready to rumble!”
The Nekter location at The Shoppes at Carlsbad will be the Orange County-based juice bar chain’s tenth in San Diego. Nekter is one of the fastest growing franchises businesses in the United States, and offers handcrafted juices, smoothies and acai bowls made without processed ingredients, artificial flavors or added sugars.
The addition of Poke Hut will be a new concept created by the Senor Grubby’s Group based in Carlsbad. Poke Hut is putting their creative local twist on a Hawaiian tradition with locally caught fish and other high-quality ingredients.
The Shoppes at Carlsbad is in the final stages of a comprehensive multi-phase renovation to transform the property into a destination lifestyle center. Upon completion later this year, the center’s improved shopping environment will encapsulate Carlsbad’s relaxed, beach-centric lifestyle with the addition of contemporary coastal living-inspired architectural elements and a calming color palette of soft earth tones complemented by a sea blue.
The center’s new contemporary restaurant streetscape will feature high volume dining brands Yard House and The Cheesecake Factory, in addition to Islands and Wokcano. The streetscape – and each restaurant (with the exception of Wokcano, which will open in early 2018) – is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2017. Dave & Buster’s opened a 40,000 square-foot location at the center earlier this year, while The Pizza Press began ‘publishing’ pizzas in November 2016.
